Fiat 642Year of production 1952 - 1963
The Fiat 642 is a versatile medium-duty truck manufactured by the Italian manufacturer Fiat V.I. from 1948 onwards.
Introduced in the middle of the Italian economic boom, in the early 1950s, this truck was one of the first of a new design that replaced the Fiat 640, which was only an update of the old Fiat 626.
The Fiat 642N uses the same robust chassis structure but benefits from the new Fiat 364A engine with a capacity of 6.6 liters. It has the new Fiat "baffo" cab with its characteristic whiskers. Its great qualities - sturdiness, reliability and low consumption - will make it the most appreciated truck for more than a decade. It remained in production for 12 years.
The Fiat 642N will be available as a straight truck and as a tractor for semi-trailers. It was produced in 8 different series until 1963, when it was replaced by the Fiat 643.
